FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What is the process of getting a Wessex home lift in my home?

    1. After you have made the decision to have a Wessex lift installed in your home, we will firstly send you brochures of different home lift options for you to choose from.
    2. We will also work with you to see if a grant is an option to your household.
    3. After this we arrange a site survey to confirm the necessary room is available and discuss the correct model and size for your needs.
    4. After receipt of a deposit, we then place an order with the manufacturer.
    5. When the lift is ready for installation a member of the team will arrange a 3-day period for your lift to be installed, tested, and finally handed over to you.

  • Do the lifts cause any loud noises or disturbances when in operation?

A Wessex through floor home lift uses a small modern powerful hydraulic unit to drive the lift.

It does not have any loud motors or gearboxes or other mechanical lifting equipment.

A Wessex Home Lift uses a unique hydraulic pump unit which can be located up to 8 metres away from the lift. The pump box that powers our through-floor lifts can be placed indoors or outdoors, and being just 485 mm tall, 230 mm wide and 280 mm deep.

  • How long does the installation of a Wessex Home Lift take?

The standard installation of a Wessex Home Lift takes two - three full days.

  • Will my home lift work in a power cut?

In the event of a power cut to the home a Wessex Home Lift is equipped with a battery backup facility. This is a standard fitting with the lift and allows the users of the lift to descend to the lower level of the home and wait until the power comes back on.

We also offer the option of an uninterruptable power supply. This system can be installed at an additional option, which will allow for numerous trips both up and down whilst the main power to the lift is out.

  • Are your lifts certified?

All the lifts we offer are C.E marked.

Our home lifts are fully compliant to BS5900: 2012
